All about food

The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book written by Fannie Farmer and published in 1896 was the first cookbook to use standardized measurements. You can see full-page scans of the cookbook here.

The Minimalist, Mark Bittman, has an article about cleaning out your pantry for the new year. I have to say I'm interested and slight skeptical about simmering a couple of veggies for a few minutes will be just as good, if not better than canned stock.

Denver Area Antique Appraisals

If you have junk lying around like I do, you have two chances to get your stuff appraised.

1) Aurora Museum Foundation has an appraisal fair on April 25, 2009. It's $5 per item.

2) Antiques Roadshow will be back in Denver on July 25, 2009.

If you're reading this, I dunno why

I have no idea why I created a blog. Maybe because it's after the holidays and I'm feeling lonely. Or it's fallout from eating too many Christmas cookies. Or I was just mucking around the 'net and decided, hey! let's create a blog.
